Attack the road with a Vengeance
It bears mentioning about this design that for all its complexity it only took about
two months to complete. That's because I entered it in the 2004 Motor Trend Design
Contest, the deadline and requirements for which were quite demanding. Perhaps even a bit
too demanding in this case, because the judgement has been rendered, and I came away
without a win this time. Oh well, I'll get over it. I still consider it a victory, even
if it's only on a personal level, to have even gotten it ready for the competition at all.
No kidding, this was one of the toughest projects I've ever taken upon myself, and I was lucky
to have gotten it done in time. Ran into a couple of speed bumps along the way, you see.
The theme for 2004 was "Brand It Your Way". The criteria was to design a car that would be
produced by an existing company that is not currently an automobile manufacturer. I went with
Verizon Vengeance, but even with all the communications gear I tried to incorporate into the
design, I admit the connection was a bit tenuous. After all, it was meant to be a street beast,
not just a cel phone on wheels.
